Video Colorist

Position Overview

As a video colorist, you will be responsible for designing the colour scheme of a commercial or film in order to achieve a specific mood or visual style.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Have the raw filming materials available for transcoding
  • Use colouring software to manipulate the Chroma and luminescence of the footage.
  • Serve as the central contact for the DOP, director, VFX and production operatives.
  • Manipulate motion pictures in post-production.
  • Colour grading for all required deliverables (for example, for cinema, TV, social media) in collaboration with the DOP.
  • Ensure the nomenclature and location of materials in published projects, hard drives, server, backup, etc.
  • Maintain process and procedural integrity, quality standards through weighing, blending, sampling, colour adjustments, colour approvals and documentation
  • Match all shots.
  • Upload all deliverable media as per project specification.

Skills and qualification

  • Ability to interpret the colour script from the art director and apply the given colour palette.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Tech-savvy.
  • Exceptional editing skills.
  • A good computer.
  • Good colour grading monitor.
  • Creative mind and storytelling skills.
  • Proven work experience as a Video Colorist.
  • Good computer skills to work with various video editing software programs, such as Davinci Resolve, Adobe and Cinema 4D.
  • Adept at using colour editing software, such as Baselight or Davinci Studio
  • Keen attention to detail to make precise edits to captured video.
  • Relative fitness and stamina to work long hours.
  • Proficiency with camera equipment.

Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in post-production roles.
  • Portfolio to demonstrate the above skills and requirements.
