Commercial Video Director

Position Overview

As a Video Director, you will control the video’s artistic and dramatic aspects, and visualize the script while guiding the technical crew and actors in the fulfillment of that vision.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist our Creative Director with coming up with creative approaches for commercial concepts.
  • Read scripts.
  • Edit scripts if need be.
  • Transform scripts into fully-fledged commercial or film productions.
  • Motivate and direct actors.
  • Work on the continuous development of the video.
  • Set the tone of the video.
  • Work with casting directors to find talent.
  • Ensure Adherence to a production schedule.
  • Exercise conflict management on set.
  • Assist in the marketing and promotion of the commercial or film.
  • Select locations for filming the video.
  • Select music for the final video and/or work with a composer to decide on the musical score.
  • Hold meetings with key departments such as the camera, art and costume departments during the planning stages and throughout the filming.
  • Work with sound and music departments.
  • Assist in pre-production, production and post-production phases of video, commercial or film making.
  • Work with the editor to create the video in its final form.

  • Strong communication skills.

Experience

  • Experience directing commercials, industry knowledge and technical expertise.
  • 5 years of work experience in an occupation related to commercial production or such as experience as a film and video editor, or a cinematographer.
